Cracking the Friday market in an hour

Friday market is what the Goans call the Mapusa market (*why though i have no idea? maybe becoz u get better deals on friday?). My neighbor told me that Friday is the day when most of the sellers from all over Goa come to Mapusa.

Anyway lemme tell u, an hour is NOT ENOUGH time to spend here. Our plan was to actually go to panjim, water our rose plants, hang out for a bit and then rush home to pick up our younger brother from school. Plans changed within 5 mins and we ended up going to Mapusa with our grandmom.

*Note - please carry an umbrella/hat. u dont wanna die of heat stroke in this :P

Ok, so while we were messing about with all the fruits, Maria decided to pose with the melons and i went along to lift the jackfruits. Sadly all the white juice *DHEEKH* came on my hands. apparently it ruins your clothes and spreads fast. thankfully they put some oil on my hands and wiped it off with tissue. it was weird because so many old ladies came up to me and started trying to help :) #awww

should i add one of these to my collection of 6 suitcases? pretty no?

If i had the money (*read Rs 17,000) i would definitely buy this ENORMOUS clock (*im thinking it would be bigger than one of our TATA Sumo tires :O). Tres antique and tres unique. And yes, this orange pair of wooden antique macau fish (*i wasnt allowed pics of that). I should really win a lottery or something :C

Did i tell u that elephants are really lucky? sleeping on this would bring a lot of luck and good dreams according to many legends

And this is not it! infact there were soo many more things which i didnt click photo's of becoz we were running out of time like the lovely material you could use as wraps on the beaches or these cute wooden carved stamps i saw (*the stamps were really adorable btw - especially the monkey ones) and i regret so much for not buying it coz what imagine the stuff u can do with the wooden monkey stamp (*starts thinking of decorating gift wrapping paper, or tees or napkins for parties etc).

and just a hint - dress normally when you go there. The sellers there are pretty observant about small small things like clothing and accents and stuff - you definitely dont want them quoting tourist prices to you (*even if you are a tourist) 

30 more days for college to start again so im sure the chance of having it is high :D :D and yes! also thinking of going to the chor bazaar soon (*just for the heck of it - sounds dangerous no? :P)

The Royal Wedding

So we watched the Royal Wedding live on BBC n I was blown away... literally  *-*

From the start to the finish, the wedding ceremony was nothing but sheer pleasure to watch!

To start off, Kate Middleton's dress was GORGEOUS!!! It was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

The dress is made with ivory and white satin gazar.  The skirt echoes an opening flower, with white satin gazar arches and pleats.  The train measures two metres 70 centimetres.  The ivory satin bodice, which is narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips, draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and is a hallmark of Alexander McQueen’s designs.  The back is finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons fastened by Rouleau loops.  The underskirt is made of silk tulle trimmed with Cluny lace.

The dress is very similar in design to Grace Kelly's wedding dress.

Almost every woman at the wedding had a hat or another form of a headpiece on! It really was quite a sight!

Prince William and Kate Middleton got their first royal wedding present from the Queen!!  The titles Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! 

The palace statement said William was also named the Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. Middleton took those titles when she said "I will," becoming Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus.

Strathearn ties William and Middleton to Scotland, where the pair met and fell in love. Baron Carrickfergus is a little-used title which refers to one of the oldest towns in Northern Ireland.

Just Married

After the lunchtime reception, the couple were seen driving away in Prince Charles' 1969 Aston Martin convertible!!!!  : D

The car was given to Prince Charles as a 21st Birthday present, and he had it converted in 2008 so that it runs on biofuel made from English wine wastage.

Well, that just about sums it up!  :)  Hope you all enjoyed today as much as I did!

30-3-2011 Esther's ATM

1. Twitter has forced me into the habit of microblogging. I can never blog again, that is considering the fact that i used to blog. scratch that out. Im a microblogger. I was a notebook writer before. I sat and looked at my right hands index finger very carefully and realise that i have this HOLE in my skin. a DENT. Infact it almost looks like a crater. Thanks a lot education, because of u my perfect fingerprint will now be ruined forever.

2. My Nikon D80's current use is to click high resolution quality pictures of my forensic notes -.- I dont think im gonna talk further on the subject. Pray that nothing happens to my laptop until the exams are over.

3. My exams are starting in 11 days and i've just spent the last 1 hour painting my left hand nails with the tricolors and my toes with the color of the cricket team uniform - blue. I've also remembered that when im going to examine the patients they will see this. It could end up 2 ways. Either they become patriotic and think about the match and forget about their illness OR thinking about the match, they might wish they were at home watching it instead of being here. This could make them even more depressed leading to the worsening of their condition. Oh well :P GO INDIAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Bonjour Beautiful people :D

Its been almost a month since I actually wrote something sensible (*cough) here... So Im gonna spare you all the made up excuses about being too busy to even breathe (which is partially true btw)

Not that I forgot about the blog, infact everytime we did something cool and interesting, all I wanted to do was turn on my laptop and write down a retarded 3 page article (*thankfully I didn't :P)

Anyway, meet Tiki, Tiko, Peri and Peru!!!   :D

LUNCH TIME :D

Tiki and Tiko are 2 hillarious guinea fowl my grandmother bought from a research farm in Chandor.

About 2 years ago, there was a HUGE snake problem in the area we live- cobras, grass snakes and all sorts of weird village snakes started appearing out of nowhere ( or maybe they were always there but just never had the courage to get out in the open). It freaked out a lot of people- grandma being one of them.

Everyone suggested buying a mongoose (which would be a retarded option- I mean, who in the world has a mongoose as a pet?) or a guinea fowl. Thankfully she resorted to buying a cute pair of the most beautiful looking birds ever.

Milkybar and Bluebell

Milkybar was a pearly white and Bluebell was a lovely shade of royal blue. They were AWESOME! Infact, Bluebell was such a cartoon, he used to kill snakes and place them on our neighbors doorstep (which used to freak them out really badly :P)

Unfortunately wolves ate them  :(

Anyway, back to the point- Tiki and Toko are the Guinea fowl ( the ones which are smaller and more white) AND Peri and Peru are the Turkeys ( a little bigger and more brown)    :P

(NOTE - these pics are over 3 weeks old, thats when we first bought the little critters. They are 

much bigger now and even have a professional home :P)
